PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical fiber cable which is composed of an optical cable core and a sheath 3 which coats the periphery of the cable core and has ripping strings 5 inside the sheath, in which an increase in transmission loss is suppressed, an excellent anti-shock characteristic is available, and branching after the middle is easily performed. SOLUTION: The filling factor of yarns in the core of the optical fiber except the assembly body 1 of the optical fiber tape is 0.2 to 0.5 and/or the sheath 3 is pushed out to coat the optical cable core so that the sheath thickness 'a' of the part in which the ripping string 5 is arranged is 0.7 to 1.5 times the sheath thickness 't' of the part in which the ripping string 5 is not arranged.
