PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply unit aimed at general-purpose power supplies being easily addable and that power efficiency of a overall apparatus can be raised at stand-by state, in the power supply unit of the apparatus in which the general-purpose power supplies are used. SOLUTION: The power supply unit is constituted to provide a connector connected to AC line and capable of connecting one or a plural of general-purpose power supplies, a switching means switching AC output to the connector by an external signal and dc/ac power conversion part for which a power conversion system from DC to AC is a switching system, connects the general-purpose power supplies to the connector connecting to AC line and is capable of connecting one or a plural of the general-purpose power supplies, and stops AC output to the connector, by instructing to the switching means by an external signal, when the apparatus switches to a stand-by state.
