PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair dye composition capable of dyeing in a black color without being tinged with reddish color and especially suitable for masking white hair of the Orientals. SOLUTION: This hair dye composition is a one package hair dye composition and contains an indoline derivative (1) (wherein R<1> , R<4> and R<5> represent each H, a 1-4C alky or a 2-20C acryl; R<2> and R<3> represent each H or a 1-4C alkyl) or its salt and an amine (2) (wherein R represents H, a 1-5C alkyl which may be substituted with hydroxyl or phenyl which may have substituents) and has a pH at 8.5-11.
