PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable image recording material having small fog, high Dmax, ultrahigh contrast and good storage stability. SOLUTION: The heat developable image recording material contains at least photosensitive silver halide, a reducible silver salt, a reducing agent, a binder and at least one compound of formula (1) on the base. In the formula (1), X and Y are each an electron withdrawing group and M is a counter cation where as the pKa of a conjugate acid of an enolate anion in the formula (1) is 3.0-6.0.
