PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric furnace which enables melting of used injection needles, materials contaminated with bacteria, or the like, by suppressing temperature loss to a minimum. SOLUTION: The furnace is constituted of a furnace body 1 having a ceiling part and a surrounding wall with a bottom part which is open, a hearth part 2 for closing the bottom part of the body, a heating element 3 disposed; surrounding the body, and a heat-insulating material 4 that encloses the heating element 3; and the hearth part 2 is constructed to be movable in the vertical directions and to be pulled out, when lowered, in the transverse direction with respect to the vertical directions.
