PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce energy loss that occurs when driving and controlling a pulse motor, and to properly control the operation of each device driven by the pulse motor. SOLUTION: Only when during its usage with a comparatively large load being applied to the pulse motor that drives this image recorder, a controller impresses a comparatively large driving current or an exciting current that causes the pulse motor to generate maximum static torque to perform a holding control. At standby when a comparatively large load is not applied to the pulse motor, the controller makes a comparatively weak excitation current to flow. At the standby of the pulse motor, energy loss due to heat generation and the like of the pulse motor is reduced. Also at the standby of the pulse motor, by keeping the state that the comparatively weak excitation current impressed to the pulse motor, the motor is prevented from rotating improperly, errors in connection with controls including the dislocation of a position set by the pulse motor when shifting to the next control operation are prevented, and immediate shift to the next control operation is effected, so that it is properly controllable. |
