PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method for aluminum nitride which can be provided for treating the residual ash of aluminum dross and efficiently regenerating aluminum, and a treatment apparatus utilizable therefor. SOLUTION: A treatment apparatus 1 is provided with a salt bath 2 as a heating means, and a reaction vessel 3 dipped into the bath 2. The reaction vessel 3 is almost cylindrically formed of stainless steel, and whose inside space can be made into the sealed one by cover bodies 4 and 5 fitted to the upper and lower parts. Heating is performed to >=100 deg.C in a state where the residual ash of aluminum dross and moisture are coexistent in the inside of the reaction vessel 3 so that aluminum nitride in the residual ash of aluminum dross can swiftly be converted into ammonia.
