PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance and high-variable-power zoom lens having the angle of view such as about 2ω=74.8 deg. to 12.35 deg. and a variable power ratio such as about 6.6, made very small in diameter and small in size, constituted of a small number of lenses, and made excellent in cost performance. SOLUTION: This zoom lens has a 1st lens group G1 having positive refractive power, a 2nd lens group G2 having negative refractive power, at least one lens group and a lens group Gm having positive refractive power in this order from an object side, and power is varied by changing a distance between the 1st and the 2nd lens groups G1 and G2. Then, the lens group Gm is constituted of a positive lens component L1 whose convex surface faces to an image side and a negative lens component L2 in this order from the object side, has a positive lens La and a negative lens Lb in the negative lens component L2 and satisfies a specified conditional expression.
