PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the display characteristic of the same order as that of a CRT(cathode-ray tube) by reducing flicker, a tail leaving phenomenon and an afterimage phenomenon while miniaturizing the power source circuit of a back light and lowering the cost of the power source circuit and reducing power consumption of the circuit when a picture consisting of a moving picture and a still picture is displayed on an LCD(liquid crystal display). SOLUTION: The picture display method in this liquid crystal display device changes over a picture signal and a blanking signal which constitute a picture based on a motion vector data DV and impresses these signals on plural lines of data electrodes constituting an LCD 1 to display the picture signal or a non-picture signal on the LCD 1.
