PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device that, when transferring an image using an electronic mail (e-mail) protocol, enables a receiving machine side to print in order even if the large image data are divided and transmitted. SOLUTION: For transmitting by e-mail, the image data of page i that have been read, a well-known BASE64 conversion is performed (S10), and then whether or not the size of the e-mail exceeds a transmission maximum size is determined (S11). If the size of the e-mail exceeds the transmission maximum size, it is determined whether the e-mail is to be divided by page (S19). If the e-mail is to be divided by page, 'partial' data are produced (S20) and transmitted. If the e-mail is not divided by page, 'divide' data are generated (S23) and transmitted.
