PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact eddy current reducer having a large damping force. SOLUTION: The eddy current reducer 10 gives reduction braking to a driving shaft 11 of a vehicle or the like, and has the driving shaft 11 of the vehicle or the like, an eddy-current reduction mechanism 12 arranged near the driving shaft 11, a step-up mechanism 13 that is put between the drive shaft 11 and eddy-current reducing mechanism 12 and increases the speed of the driving shaft 11 for inputting to the eddy-current reduction mechanism 12, and cooling means 40 and 41a to 41d for water-cooling or oil-cooling the eddy-current mechanism 12.
