PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the driving method of a plasma display panel and a plasma display device capable of preventing the luminance of display from being reversed without degrading picture quality of display even when a PLE control is performed. SOLUTION: In the plasma display device, when an average luminance level is high and although weights are different between the least significant sub-field SF1 and a sub-field SF2 whose order is higher than the sub-field SF1 by one order, numbers of sustaining cycles become equal, in the least significant sub- field SF1, entire scanning electrodes are scanned and also in odd numbered fields (the nth frame), data pulses are impressed on data electrodes in accordance with a video signal only in a period when odd numbered scanning electrodes are scanned and in even numbered fields (the (n+1)th frame), data pulses are impressed on the data electrodes in accordance with the video signal only in a period when even numbered scanning electrodes are scanned.
