METHOD FOR EDITING GRAPHICS OBJECT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a progressive volume sculpting system capable of performing more excellent control while a user directs and arranges a sculpting tool to the surface of a digitized model by using an adaptively sampled distance field(ADF). SOLUTION: This method edits a graphics object by first representing the graphics object by the adaptively sampled distance field. A portion of the adaptively sampled distance field is selected for editing and converted into a triangle model. The triangle model is then deformed, the adaptively sampled distance field is regenerated from the deformed triangle model.
