PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter having color purity higher than that defined by the HDTV(high-definition television) standard and high transmittance compatibly, and also having a green pixel with film thickness equivalent to that of red and blue pixels, and to provide a liquid crystal display element using the color filter. SOLUTION: When chromaticity is expressed by an xy color system using F10 light source as a backlight source for measurement, the color filter has a green pixel satisfying inequalities 0.29<x<0.32 and y>0.65 and is characterized by having the green pixel exhibiting <=20% transmittance at 480 nm wavelength, <=60% transmittance at 500 nm wavelength, >=10% transmittance at 510 nm wavelength, >=50% transmittance at 530 nm wavelength and >=65% transmittance at 545 nm wavelength. |
