PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray pulse width measuring method and device capable of measuring the pulse width of an X-ray pulse in a femto-second area and performing a precise integrated measurement free from electric jitter. SOLUTION: The X-ray pulse 3 is emitted to water 4 to generate hydrated ions, and a pulse laser beam 7' successively changed in delay time is emitted to water 4 to successively measure the absorption factor by the hydrated ions. The pulse width of the X-ray pulse 3 is measured from the delay time dependency of the absorption factor.
