PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user of what a function assumed to be proper in the present state of a camera is by the same operation of an operation means without allotting the operation means to a plurality of functions, respectively. SOLUTION: This camera has the operation means for selecting any of a plurality of functions, a state detection means for detecting the state of the camera, an informing means, and a control means (S2 to S12) deciding the present state of the camera detected by the state detection means when detecting that the operation of the operation means is performed (S1), and allowing the informing means to inform of the function assumed to be proper in the present state of the camera out of a plurality of functions which can be performed as the function selected by the operation means.
