METHOD OF MANUFACTURING PROGRESSIVE MULTIFOCAL LENS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing progressive multifocal lenses which is capable of improving the distortions and strains of the images occurring in the fluctuations of the magnifications of the far sight sections and near sight sections of the progressive multifocal lenses accompanying astigmatism correction. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method has a first process step of determining the curvature of original progressive refraction surfaces only for the purpose that the surfaces on an eyeball side exhibit desired sight correction characteristics, a second process step of determining the curvature of original toric surfaces only for the purpose that the surfaces on the eyeball side exhibit desired astigmatism correction characteristics and a third process step of determining the surfaces on the eyeball side of the progressive multifocal lenses by synthesizing the curvature of the original progressive refraction surfaces and the curvature of the original toric surfaces.
