PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an e-mail(electronic mail) system and a destination name adding method therefor that, when sending back return e-mail for received e-mail, generate the format of return e-mail for which a name has been added, automatically and appropriately, to the address of e-mail to be returned, and easily use an appropriate name and title of respect for the destination of the return e-mail. SOLUTION: This e-mail system is provided with an address book means 1 and a return mail format generating means 2, so that, if the return e-mail is to be sent back for the received e-mail, the return mail format generating means 2 searches the address book means 1 on the basis of the mail address of the return mail destination, and if the relevant address is stored and a name therefor a id added, substituted the name for the relevant mail address stored in the address book means for the destination name to be added to the mail address of the return mail destination.
