PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an incomplete insertion of a retainer. SOLUTION: A cavity 32 housing female terminal fitting, and a retainer mounting hole 41 crossing the cavity having an opening at side part, are formed to a female housing 30. A retainer 50 admits the insertion of female terminal to fit into the cavity 32 when locked at the temporal locking position, and protrudes from the female housing 30, and when locked at the original locking position, a locking part 54 is inserted into the cavity 32 and locked to the female terminal fitting, and side surface of the retainer gets into the same level with the side surface of the female housing 30. A slider 60, enabled to move forward and backward, is arranged around the female housing 30 together with a compression coil spring 61, and the surface of the slider 60 facing the female housing 30 slides along the surface of the female housing. A retainer insertion hole 68, communicating with a retainer mounting hole 41, is formed to the slider 60. When the retainer 50 is incompletely inserted, a detection part 69, located at the front part of the rim of the retainer insertion hole 68, interferes with a protrusion part of the retainer 50, and the movement of the slider 60 is restrained.
