PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved electronic still camera with operator selectable image compression in one of a plurality of operator selectable digital data formats recordable on a standard removable magnetic diskette common to personal computers. SOLUTION: The digital camera to capture a digital image includes an operator control section that generates a plurality of control signals given to the inside of the camera and a digital input output interface that is used to transmit the digital image to an external device at the outside of the digital camera.
