PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method for producing 2-ethylhexyl acrylate. SOLUTION: A crude reaction mixture B1 is washed with water in an extraction distillation column C2. An organic phase O2 is recovered at the top of column and a water phase A1 is recovered at the bottom thereof, and the organic phase O2 is sent to a column C3. An AA and 2-EtHexOH in the organic phase are recovered at the top of the column C3 and recirculated into an esterification reaction. The purified 2-ethylhexyl acrylate is sent to a second distillation column C4 and the substance except a residual heavy substance is recovered at the top of the column 4 and the water phase A1 is fed to a step for hydrolysis of 2-ethylhexyl hydrogensulfate salt. The 2-ethylhexyl hydrogensulfate (2-EtHexSO4 ) in the water phase A1 is hydrolyzed to form a 2-EtHexOH and a sulfuric acid, which is neutralized by introduction of a base, and then the acid obtained through hydrolysis is neutralized. The obtained water phase A3 is fed to a step for recovering 2-EtHexOH in a distillation column C1, and the alcohol is taken out from the top of the column C1.
