PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make realizable a reproducible, highly precise, stable, and reliable measurement allowed to be automated totally with ease. SOLUTION: This strain measurement device is provided with a fixed linear rail part 3 arranged on a flat face 2, a cylindrical body shifting mechanism part 4 rolling the cylindrically body C while its one end side circumferential face is brought into contact with the fixed linear rail part 3, a reference pole part 5 arranged in the position separated from the cylindrical body C by a predetermined distance in the vertical direction to the rolling direction Fc of the cylindrical body C, a laser scan micro meter 6 simultaneously scanning the upper part of the cylindrical body C and the reference pole part 5 by means of a laser beam L projected in the rolling direction Fc for measuring a clearance W between them, and a control part 7 processing the measurement data for finding the strain Ed.
