The holder used for mounting rim of vehicle wheel and to measure the alignment angle of the wheel has a carrier (12) with reference pins (14) which can be applied to corresponding reference surfaces of the wheel. The holder also has an anchoring mechanism (20) which can engage the runner surface of a tire. The anchoring mechanism has a pair of levers (22) pivotal on the carrier about a first pair of axes. Main springs (38) move the levers in a first pivotal direction. A pair of holder arms (30) are pivotal relative to the levers about second axes. Second springs (40) force the holder arms in a second direction of rotation relative to the levers.
