PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium manganese compound oxide having a high active material capacity, its manufacturing method and a lithium secondary battery using the compound oxide. SOLUTION: The lithium manganese compound oxide is represented by Li1-x MnO2-δ (wherein, x denotes a lithium defective amount and satisfies 0<=x<0.6 and δ denotes an oxygen defective amount and satisfies 0<=δ<=0.2), and a space group of the crystal structure can be represented by R3m and when R3m is adopted, (104)/(003) face index intensity ratio y satisfies 0.168<=y<=0.238. The lithium manganese compound oxide is manufactured by mixing a lithium compound with a manganese compound, burning the mixture in an atmosphere of a low oxygen concentration and electrochemically treating the burnt material. A lithium secondary battery is accommodated with a positive electrode formed by a positive electrode material and a negative electrode containing a lithium group metal, a metal oxide, a metal nitride, a carbon material and the like. |
