PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semitransmitting reflector, semitransmitting and reflecting polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device using these which can keep both of the reflecting and semitransmitting states without decreasing the use efficiency of light. SOLUTION: The semitransmitting reflector has a light-diffusing cohesive adhesive layer containing a light-transmitting spheric filler having 0.90 to 1.10 ratio of the reflective index in a transparent resin on at least one surface of a mirror reflective semitransmitting reflector composed of a polymer film containing no inorganic material and has a wide band 1/4 wavelength plate composed of at least two phase difference films laminated thereon. The synthesized phase difference of the wavelength plate satisfies the relation of 0.2<=Δn×d/λ<=0.3 for the light in the wavelength range from 380 to 700 nm, whereinΔn is the double refractive index, d is the thickness of the wavelength plate, andλis the wavelength of light.
