<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a transparent, flat and smooth aerogel membrane. SOLUTION: This membrane is formed from an alkoxide solution containing and fabricated from alkoxide, an amphipathic solvent which has solubility of alkoxide, a reaction catalyst for hydrolysis polymerization of alkoxide, and thereafter the supercritical dehydration of the membrane is carried out to produce an aerogel membrane. For this purpose, the solvent and/or the reaction catalyst shall be involatile at room temperature so that rapid dehydration by volatilization of the solvent and the reaction catalyst can be prevented during the fabrication of a membrane from a silicon alkoxide solution.</p> |
