PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise the temperature of the food by stopping the protrusion of the rotating antenna at the position where the temperature of the food is low. SOLUTION: The high frequency heating device has a rotating antenna 7 for agitating high frequency in the high frequency supply chamber 4 that is provided underneath the food mounting plate 3 fixed at the bottom part of a heating chamber 2. A protrusion 7c where high frequency is concentrated is provided at the rotating antenna 7, and an encoder 12 having a slit is fixed to the rotating axle 9 of the rotating antenna 7 for stopping the protrusion 7c of the rotating antenna 7 in the vicinity of the food 1 of low temperature based on the food temperature information detected by an infrared sensor 10. A photoreflector 11 for radiating infrared rays is provided beneath the encoder 12, and infrared rays are radiated toward the encoder 12, and when the slit part has reached the infrared rays, voltage is generated at the photoreflector 11 and, based on this information, the table motor 8 is stopped and thereby, the protrusion of the antenna 7 is stopped at the prescribed position.
