A reflecting film is made by forming resin layers on both sides of a metal thin film, and using a colourless, transparent, and optically isotropic material at least in one resin layer. A reflecting film is made by forming a metal thin film on one side of a resin film, and forming a colourless, transparent, and optically isotropic resin coat layer on its surface by printing or other method. A mirror having such a reflecting film is mounted on a frame. A projection type image magnifying apparatus for liquid crystal panel and a projection type image magnifying apparatus for CRT, improved in resolution and contrast ratio, is obtained by using such mirror as an image reflecting mirror.
