[Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a compound of formula I: in which A is a heterocyclic ring system with aromatic character, if desired substituted by one or more alkyl and/or alkoxy groups with 1-3 carbon atoms, chlorine or bromine atoms or phenyl groups, which optionally may themselves carry one or more alkyl groups with 1-3 carbon atoms, the said ring system consisting of either a 5- or 6- membered ring, a fused 5- and 6- membered ring or two fused 6-membered rings and containing 1-3 hetero atoms at least one of which is a nitrogen atom or a physiologically acceptable acid addition salt thereof in conjunction with a suitable carrier or diluent and optionally other antihypertensive and/or saluretic agents, e.g. benzothiadiazines and/or spasmolytics, or psychosedatives. The active ingredients of formula I exhibit anti-hypertensive activity and some also possess analgenic, secretion-inhibiting, vasoconstricting and/or sedative activities. The compositions may be administered, orally or parenterally.
