1,206,199. Forming foam insulated tubes. MASCHINENFABRIK HENNECKE G.m.b.H. 29 July, 1968 [31 July, 1967], No. 36112/68. Heading B5A. Hollow members comprising a core tube covered with foamed material and a jacketing tube are formed continuously by placing the core tube and a foamable material in a jacketing tube which is open in the longitudinal direction, closing the jacketing tube and foaming. The process is preferably carried out on an endless conveyer 3 equipped with spaced apart mould sections 4 on its face. The jacketing tube 1 is slit longitudinally at 10 and the slit tube is opened out by rollers 11 and held by spacing means 7. The core tube 12 is introduced from reel 14 into the opened tube 10 after spacing elements 13 have been placed thereon. The spacing elements are preferably made of the same material as the foam and can be clipped on to the tube 12. Foamable material is also introduced into the opened tube 1, at 8 the spacing means 7 are removed and the mould halves 4 are moved together by rails engaging their outside edges against the pressure of a biasing spring to close the tube 1. The foamable material is then foamed and the outer tube may be sealed by welding 9. The foamed material may be polyurethane. |
