<p>A system (10) utilizing a switch (16) to prevent injuries due to marine engines (22) such as propellers (24) striking swimmers and carbon monoxide asphyxiation to persons next to a boat. The switch (16) is normally in a closed position and is only opened when a movable element such as a ladder or gate (32) on the boat travels to an unlatched position. Such movement interrupts the ignition circuit (20) of the boat engine. An override device (28) is also employed to allow normal operation of the marine engine and requires both mechanical and electrical interconnection or matting of connector elements (48).</p> |
