In a lasting machine of the type having forepart wipers 1 and wiper extensions 2 carrying leaf springs 4 for lasting the ball and shank regions of the shoe, the longitudinal position of the leaf springs 4 on the wiper extensions 2 is adjustable. The leaf spring 4 is secured by screws 12 to the arm 10<SP>11</SP> of an angular member the other arm of which 10<SP>1</SP> can slide in a guide slot between the wiper extension 2<SP>11</SP> and a plate 6 and is moved to its correct longitudinal positioin by the end 7<SP>1</SP> of a lever 7. The lever 7 is locked in position by a spring loaded detent 181 which engages notches 19 in the plate 6 according to the size of the shoe. The front-end of the leaf spring rests on a cover plate 14 and is positioned by a tongue 29, secured to the underside of the leaf spring and which is locted in guide slot between the cover plate 14 and the wiper extension 211. In a second embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) the rear end of the leaf spring (4) is secured to a block (21) which can slide on the arm (1011) against the action of a compression spring so that the leaf spring is pressed upwardly against the shoe bottom during lasting. |
