The invention relates to the utilization of anthranilic acid amides for producing a medicament having a K<+> channel-blocking action for treating and preventing K<+> channel-mediated diseases. The invention involves the utilization of compounds of formula (I) and/or of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for producing a medicament having a K<+> channel-blocking action and used for treating and preventing K<+> channel-mediated diseases. The invention also relates to the utilization of these compounds and/or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for producing a medicament used for treating or preventing cardiac dysrhythmias that can be eliminated by means of action potential prolongation. The compounds and/or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are/is also utilized for producing a medicament used for treating or preventing reentry arrhythmias, for producing a medicament used for treating or preventing supraventricular arrhythmias, for producing a medicament used for treating or preventing atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter, and for producing a medicament used for terminating atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter (cardioversion).
