A swivel assembly moves a cover flap (1) providing access to e.g. an ash tray within the dashboard (3) of a motor vehicle. The flap swivels about an axis (2) between open and closed positions (A, B). When closed a small gap (4) remains between the flap and surround. During flap (1) the opening/closing process the axis (2) undertakes a translatory motion.
