<p>The invention relates to a fishing reel automatic line release clip which includes a plastic or metal clip (2) with a hooked end (3) to engage and retain the fishing line (1) as the bail (11) is opening out on the fishing reel. The release clip (2) is pivotally mounted and spring loaded inside the clip housing (4), which is located on the outside of the rotor (12). The degree of resistance on the release clip (2) is variable and fully adjustable by turning the tension dial (5). While the fisherman is casting, or spinning using a flicking motion, the tension on the line (1) becomes greater and greater, until such time that the clip (2) has reached the dead return point. At this particular moment in time the tension on the line (1) is reduced. Because of this reduction in tension the release clip (2) set at the dead return point is triggered, instantly enabling the release clip (2) to fully open and retract, rotating in the opposite direction towards the end of its cycle in order to release the line (1) off the spool (13).</p> |
