<p>In a method of and apparatus for associating an individual with a specific object using biometric information such as a fingerprint, the fingerprint is scanned in stage (1) and a representation generated on stage (2). A template is taken of the print using a known technique involving identifying a plurality of present points and specific data from that template is encrypted in stage (3). The encrypted template is then associated with the object (4) between which and the individual an association is to be created. Advantageously, additional information or data of a nature personal to the individual may be included with the template to be used to generate keys for the encryption.</p> |
