Resin compsn. contains effective amt. of photodecomposable agent of gen. formula (in which R is lower alkyl (pref. 1-3C) halomethyl or gp. of formula bound in 2'-position to 2-position of benzene ring of I, directly or via -O- or -CO-; R1 to R6 gps. are opt. different and are H, halogen, OH, alkyl, alkoxy or NO2; if >=1 of these is OH, it is not bound on the -CO- gp. if R is halomethyl; R1, R2 and R3 are H or halogen). Compsn. can be used for making disposable containers, bags, foam etc. benzophenone type cpd. having low enough toxicity for use in contact with foodstuffs, e.f. in tableware, food containers and packaging materials. Additive causes decompsn. of the resin in UV or sunlight and thus overcomes long term pollution problem. |
