<p>An image display device comprises an envelope having a front base plate and a back base plate that are opposed to each other and have their peripheral edge sealed. The sealed portion has electric conductivity and is sealed by a seal member that melts upon passage of electricity therethrough. During production, electricity is passed through the seal member provided on the sealed portion to melt the latter, whereupon passage of electricity is cut off to allow the seal member to cool and solidify, thereby sealing the peripheral edges of the front and rear base plates.</p> |
