A method and apparatus for controlling water impurity level and temperature uniformity with large water-containing reservoirs including a pump located in the body of water (2), the pump (12) ejecting a jet of water therefrom (22) and ingesting water at a point remote from said ejecting and an eductor (20) positioned in the jet of water (18) for pulling in low pressure water and flowing a stream of water therefrom providing mixing and circulation of water within the reservoir to remove temperature gradients. Means are provided for adding at least one of ammonia and hypochlorite or their chemicals to the body of water on a continuous basis. Water purity is controlled by a controller (34).
