MULTIPLE WAVELENGTH LASER SOURCE

Optical communication system apparatus and methods of operating an optical communications system (1100, 1200) are described. A multiple wavelength laser source (1360) is utilized to provide channel sychronization signals for the system. The laser source utilizes a plurality of distributed feedback (DFB) lasers. The output of each laser is phase modulated, and the phase modulated outputs are multiplexed together and amplified.
