<p>An obstetrical vacuum extractor (20) and coupled hand-held pump arrangement wherein the pump subassembly (22) includes a diaphragm (94) deflectable to draw a vacuum through an inlet valve (102) to draw a vacuum within the extractor cup (126). A handle (134) biased in a first position by plastic springs (144) may be moved to a second position to deflect the diaphragm (94). A relief valve (64) including an opening (70) covered by an elastically deformable elastomeric band (72) may be selectively actuated to fluidly couple the interior of the cup (26) to the atmosphere. The assembly extractor (20) may be assembled into a shell (50) and may include a pressure gauge (82) and/or a timer (90).</p> |
