PURPOSE: An MCB(Main Control Block) duplication device in a DSLAM(Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) system and a control method therefor are provided to duplicately embody an MCB and stably process ADSL(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) subscriber data in a high speed. CONSTITUTION: The first MCB(100) receives ADSL ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) cell data from an ADSL board while the first MCB is set as a master state and is operated as an active state, operates and controls the ADSL ATM cell data, and transmits and receives the ADSL ATM cell data to an upper terminal. The first MCB(100) monitors its state, outputs a switching signal when abnormality is generated, and is transited from the master state into a slave state. The second MCB(200) is set as the slave state and receives a VPI/VCI(Virtual Path Identifier/Virtual Channel Identifier) value and EMS(Element Management System) information through a cell bus and an ethernet while the first MCB(100) is set as the master state and is operated as the active state. The second MCB(200) receives the switching signal from the first MCB(100), and is switched from the slave state to the master state and is operated as the active state for receiving the ADSL ATM cell data from the ADSL board, operating and controlling the ADSL ATM cell data, and transmitting and receiving the ADSL ATM cell data to/from the upper terminal.
