A hand held, hand operated, mechanical Rosary prayer sequence symbol prompter has: an enclosure that carries 6 straight sided nonsimilar shaped counting symbols and a circular shaped counting symbol in its domed top cover; a counting wheel with 60 teeth that correspond to the 60 sequenced prayers of the Rosary and that carries an elongated radially aligned cam; a push button ratchet lever and pawl mechanism that controlably propells the counting wheel and its cam into engagement with symbol hold down and release mechanisms that are spaced to correspond with given counting wheel teeth, to effect the release of the symbols from a held down mode to an inclined or elevated counting reference mode; straight sided symbol reset levers that are engaged after counting reference by circular symbol tabs, when the circular symbol is released from its held down mode, and pushed back down into the held mode, the circular symbol after counting reference in its elevated mode being reset, being pressed down by hand; and an enclosed Rosary compartment in the bottom of the prompter, that the Rosary can be carried in, with access provided by sliding a compartment gate off of an opening in the compartment's transparent bottom cover.
