<p>1295659 Friction ratchet clutch RING- SPANN ALBRECHT MAURER KG 23 Dec 1969 [25 March 1969] 62556/69 Heading F2C In a one-way sprag clutch, the sprag cage is formed in chain-like fashion from either metal links 17, Fig. 4, arranged alternately with oblong metal links (7), Fig. 5 (not shown), or metal links 33, Fig. 9, arranged continuously around the chain. The sprags pivot on pins (10), Fig. 2 (not shown), arranged in end holes in the plates (7) and abut cross-bolts (26) carrying sleeves (6) and extending between holes 18 in opposite links 17. The holes 21 formed by opposed portions of each link 17 snap over the pins (16) to interconnect the links. Springs (13) on pins (10) bias the sprags into clutch engagement. Again, the links 33 are interconnected by pins (41), Fig. 7 (not shown), in holes 36, 37 and carrying the sprags which abut sleeved cross-bolts (39) extending between holes 38 in opposed links. The sprags are again spring biased into engagement and may be arranged to be centrifugally removed from action on overrun to reduce wear. Projections 22, 23 on links 17, and projections 49 on links 33 are so proportioned in relation to the spacing between the cylindrical clutch surfaces, as to prevent the links from opening during operation. Again, the bolts (39) may pass through holes 36 or 37 and the pins (41) be received in holes 38.</p> |
