Antibody (Ab) that is specific for a histamine receptor protein (HRP), especially human, and able to inhibit binding of histamine to HRP, is new. Antibody (Ab) that is specific for a histamine receptor protein (HRP), especially human, and able to inhibit binding of histamine to HRP. Ab is produced by immunization with an antigenic polypeptide (I) that comprises: (i) an extracellular domain (ECD) having a sequence from the first extracellular loop (ECL) of HRP and optionally a transmembrane domain (TMD) having a sequence from the N-terminus of the third transmembrane region (TMR) of HRP; (ii) ECD having a sequence from the second ECL and optionally a TMD having a sequence from the C-terminus of the fourth TMR; or (iii) an ECD having a sequence from the second ECL and optionally a TMD having a sequence from the N-terminus of the 5th TMR. Independent claims are also included for: (1) preparing (M1) Ab; (2) hybridoma cells produced by (M1); (3) immunoassay for detecting HRP that uses at least one Ab; and (4) (I).
