Hydroxy-α-amino acids and their derivatives in which the hydroxy group is blocked by a 2,2,2-trihalo-1-acylamino-ethyl group are prepared by reacting the amino acid or its derivative with N-acyl-1-trihalogeno-acetaldimine. Peptides containing hydroxy-amino acids are also prepared by condensing an hydroxyamino acid or a peptide containing such an acid having a free amino group or a free carboxylic group but having its hydroxy group protected by a 2,2,2-trihalogeno-1-acylamino-ethyl group, with an amino acid having a free carboxy or free amino group respectively, and, if desired, removing all or some of the protecting groups in the resulting peptide. Medicaments contain the hydroxy-α-amino acids or hydroxy-α-amino acid derivatives which are the products of the process above. The dicyclohexylamine salts of N- and O- protected hydroxy-α-amino acids and peptides containing them are prepared.</p> |
