发明名称 Method and Apparatus for Making Forgings
摘要 1,157,944. Forging; punching; casting- machines. TEXTILE MACHINE WORKS. 20 Sept., 1967 [6 Oct., 1966], No. 42761/67. Headings B3F, B3H and B3W. A workpiece C, Fig. 3, is cast at one station in a machine and then transferred to a forging station F. The machine comprises an intermittently rotating turret 15 with four radial arms 20-23 each having spaced fingers 25, 26 with slots 27, 28 which support the workpiece. The turret is driven through gearing 63, 65 and a one-way clutch 70, Fig. 1, by a reversible semi-rotary hydraulic motor 66 which rotates through 270 degrees as determined by a cam 73, Fig. 3. A locking pin 83 actuated by an hydraulic motor 84, 85, engages between teeth in the gear 63 to lock the turret in its working position. At the first station, molten metal, such as brass, aluminium or steel, is poured through a gate 60 into a mould 35, Fig. 1, containing a core 47. The mould 35 is raised into casting position by an hydraulic motor 31 and the core is lowered simultaneously by an hydraulic motor 57. When casting aluminium, the mould is of copper and is cooled by water circulated through a pipe 45. The core 47 is cooled by water circulated through a pipe 50. During casting, the metal overflows the mould to provide runners 42, Fig. 3, which key into the slots 27, 28 and support the workpiece C during its subsequent transfer. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 12 (not shown), a hollow conical core (177) of stainless steel is used and is heated by a gas burner (179). After a cooling delay period, determined by a timer (TM), Fig. 14 (not shown), the mould and core are retracted from the casting which is retained by its runners in the fingers 25, 26 of the turret. The latter is then indexed through 90 degrees to bring the hot workpiece C into the forging station F. Here it is forged between dies (110), (111), Figs. 2, 6 (not shown), actuated through toggle linkages (123), (125) by an hydraulic cylinder (115). This actuation mechanism is identical with that used at the next station P for trimming the workpiece. At station P, Fig. 1, the workpiece f is severed from its forging flash (141), Fig. 6 (not shown), and its support runners 42, by upper and lower dies 146, 147 in holders 143, 145 actuated through toggle linkages 123p, 125p by an hydraulic cylinder 114p. The lower dieholder 145 is given a further lowering movement, to allow access for the workpiece between the dies, by providing an eccentric pivot (133p), Fig. 10 (not shown), for its toggle link 125p, actuated by a rotary hydraulic motor 192p; a similar arrangement may be provided for the upper dies. After trimming, the workpieee f passes through the hollow die-holder 145 into a discharge shoot 153. At the final station 5, the scrap is ejected from the turret fingers by an ejector finger (163), Fig. 2 (not shown), actuated by an hydraulic motor (165). A plurality of interconnected workpieces may be cast and forged as one unit and finally separated during trimming. An hydraulic circuit controlled by cam-operated switches is described, Fig. 13 (not shown).
