PURPOSE: A portable communication terminal in which an output volume is varied according to a receiving signal and an embodying method therefor are provided to know a call connection state without holding a portable communication terminal to a user's ear by outputting a ring-back tone signal and a busy signal in a high level and outputting a voice signal of an object in a low level. CONSTITUTION: A signal discriminator(110) discriminates a signal received when being originated. A conversion switch(120) outputs a signal demodulated in a signal processor(30) to an ear speaker(50) or a calling sound speaker(60) according to the control of a control unit(10). The control unit(10) discriminates a signal received when being originated, outputs the received signal to the calling sound speaker(60) when the received signal is a ring-back tone signal and a busy signal. If a channel connects to a termination side and a voice signal is received, the control unit(10) outputs the voice signal to the ear speaker(50).
