PURPOSE: A container for consumable material, a container-receiving station, and the system are provided to properly install an alternate ink container to be engaged with a receptacle of a printer. CONSTITUTION: A container for consumable material(110) is attached to a device using consumable material. The container has feature parts(360A,360B) indicating the characteristic of the material. The feature part includes plural elongated slots connected to each other, to physically receive engaging elements. The slot is oriented to form a special pattern functioning of mechanically distinguishing containers. The special pattern formed by the mutually connected elongated slots is a T-shape. The T-shape pattern is angularly oriented in one of four orientations corresponding to 90-degree angular increments.
