PURPOSE: An apparatus for selecting a song using a cellular phone and a method for selecting a song using the same are provided to conveniently enjoy leisure life by using the cellular phone as a remote controller which operates a karaoke device through a simple mode conversion process. CONSTITUTION: A micro-controller unit(100) recognizes, processes, and stores data input through a keypad unit(104) of a cellular phone. A flash memory(106) stores and outputs digital data input to the micro-controller unit(100). A transmission circuit unit(102) receives the data of the micro-controller unit(100) and transmits the received data to a video accompaniment device. A song code, a song words, and a song title input through the keypad unit(104) are displayed on a monitor of the cellular phone.
